Ræktin at Sequences X

2021

The artist amalgamation Ræktin produced the publication Auricle and relating events for Sequences X art festival in Reykjavík 2021. At the time the group consisted of Agnes Ársæls, Bára Bjarnadóttir, Svanhildur Halla Haraldsdóttir and Vala Sigþrúðar Jónsdóttir. The publication included a collection of texts, interviews and artworks about insight in contemporary art. Auricle could be found at selected venues all over the city during the festival which guests and passers by could pick up free of charge.

Ræktin had an installation hub, called Ráðrúm (e. Scope), at the exhibition space Flæði. The installation served also as a location for two workshops one for children and one for adults where the participants did free drawing, sowing and carving on the installation pieces.

The installation was also a setting for a seminar with artists Hildur Hákonadóttir and Ólöf Bóadóttir on insight and related topics.

Together Auricle, Ráðrúm and the events formed a set of approaches towards a dialogue on insight with viewers.

Ræktin (est. 2020) is an amalgamation of artists who seek to create a dialogue about things that arouse their curiosity in contemporary art. Ræktin takes its time to attend to each subject it applies itself to every time, in the hope of raising new viewpoints when working at a comfortable speed. Ræktin communicates that which it has learned through its voice and fingers. At the time of the project the group consisted of Agnes Ársæls, Bára Bjarnadóttir, Svanhildur Halla Haraldsdóttir and Vala Sigþrúðar Jónsdóttir.
