Safety Blankets #1 og #2
2020
Wool and old canvas sacks
Safety Blankets #1 and #2 are soft, fluffy reliefs that depict images of potential emergencies. A fire extinguisher on a wall reminds us that our surroundings are flammable and that the threat of destruction is always present. By reproducing the image without the function of the object itself the possibility of a hazard becomes more apparent. Similarly, the image of a person looking out of an emergency exit on a burning airplane taken from a safety instruction catalogue on board, shows the passenger a tragic situation which could happen. The images don’t offer any solutions to the problems they portray but ask the viewer to acknowledge their existence.
